It might be helpful for you to know a little bit about me. I am a mother of three kids, they are 11, 6 and 3.  I've planned 3 homebirths and had two babies at home in the bath because - quick births! My first birth was a CS (an incredible birth of me as a mother and doorway to so much wisdom about my whole life up to that point and it continues to be my greatest source of learning). I am in my final year of studying the Bachelor of  Midwifery at ACU in Fitzroy.

I'm happy to chat over the phone or plan a visit with you to work out whether we are a good fit for each other as it is such an important time to surround yourself with the people you need to be with you.

My approach to attending women and birthing people in pregnancy, birth and as a new born mama/parent is Kind, Present, Steady and I feel passionate about respecting, protecting and cultivating (natural!) oxytocin.

I see my support style as three intersecting spirals of :

Knowledge - your inherent wisdom and that of your baby as well as the information that you draw on to navigate your journey.

Breath - to access softness and space in your body/mind ie. your parasympathetic nervous system and the relaxed state that the birth process loves the most.

Touch - respectful loving touch for comfort, ease, space, softness and oxytocin. Think: herbal foot baths and foot massages with fresh herbs from my garden, hip jiggling, and I have also completed the Spinning Babies workshop three times, so I am happy to teach those releases too in pregnancy so that you are familiar with them to know whether you would like to use them in the birth process.

My support varies depending on what each family is needing but sometimes, especially if it is the first pregnancy, people aren't quite sure what is possible or available. This is a little brainstorm of the type of support I offer at each point in your journey.

Antental
Feedback about your birth plan, talking through it together and feeling into what is important to you.
Gentle bodywork: herbal footbath and massage, hip jiggling, guided touch for breath, releases for space and softness in the body.
Birth visualistion - drawing and/or recording to listen to as a meditation
Usually my antenatal visits are spent chatting while I do gentle hip jiggling with a healthy snack somewhere in there too.
Attendance at appointments

Birth
On-all 24/7 from 37 weeks
Labour support in your chosen birth place
Bodywork eg. rebozo, hip jiggling, softness and space releases (taught to me at Spinning Babies workshops)
Continuous presence throughout the birth process
Kind, Present, Steady attendance which supports you to go deep inside in your birth process
Protection and cultivation of oxytocin

Postnatal
Meals
Housework
Bodywork - footbaths/massage, running a herb bath for mama and babe, Womb-steaming, rebozo closing of the bones - re-connecting with the body through gentle holding.
Sharing feelings on how the experience of the birth is settling

A mixture of all of the above!
Re-making the oxytocin bubble at home if anything unexpected has happened along the way  - eg. a stay in SCN or unexpected interventions. Via a mixture of the things mentioned above and creating a ritual space for reconnecting as a newborn family.

I am offering three options for my Winter Doula work this year. (payment can be made gradually but needs to be completed by EDB. Cash only.) The prices are estimated for 45 min - 1 hr travel time from my home. Each option is $100 extra for travel time beyond 1 hr.

It's probably important to mention since I am a midwifery student that my doula work is non-clinical support only.  I can be the steady support that gives you the absolute confidence to be clear on what it is you need and to speak up loudly for what you want at any moment but I can't ever speak for you or interrupt the care that is being offered. I can enthusiastically amplify your voice by emphasising what you are saying at the time if you feel like you need to be heard more clearly in the moment.

I have a little space on insta and FB which talk about my bodywork more but socials arent my strong suit!
